The summer of 2007 saw the premiere of Fäviken Opera with the performance of Il Marito Disperato (The Desperate Husband), a comic opera by Domenico Cimarosa. The event was a success, with all performances selling out and being showered with praise. Both the audience and performers loved the wonderful world of Cimarosa’s opera and the Neapolitan atmosphere that transformed the barn at Fäviken. Strengthened by success, there was a new performance in the summer of 2008. This time it was “L'Opera Seria” by FL Gassmann, which was organised in partnership with Drottningholms Slottsteater. Despite the title this is also a comic opera. Fäviken’s scenic location, proximity to Åre and expanding tourism are the foundation for the birth of Fäviken Opera. The aim is to provide a social and cultural meeting place in the form of a different, accessible operatic event.
